Remember this day? Me and Alex used to play Mafia in the city every Wednesday and they were having a themed event: “Great Gatsby”. As soon as I told you about this (literally a few hours before leaving the house) you jumped off the chair and said, “Gatsby? Tonight??? You have nothing to wear! We have to go shopping – NOW!!!”. We would spend an hour shopping, an hour getting ready, and our final hour singing, on full blast, Philip Kirkorov in the car (notably the best pre-game to any party). But getting ready wasn’t so typical, it was a 3-step routine the entire family had to be a part of – even the dog. First, while I would be painting my nails, you would be curling my hair, dad would be preparing me food, and the dog would be following us around and supervising. Then, we had to survive the “panic wave” of running up and down the stairs with 5 minutes left to leave the house. And finally, I would be having my long-waited-for food, you would be complimenting me, dad would be convincing me to stay home, and the dog would be laying by the front door waiting to say goodbye. And this was our routine every time.
I think you were more excited about me going to events than I was. And this happened every time, whether it was a birthday party, a vacation, or just going out with my friends. You always made sure my hair was done, my nails were painted, my lipstick was on, my socks matched my purse (because you never know in this life). You taught me to notice the little things in life and how to look the best, feel the best, and be the best because that’s who you were – the best.
